Services were 10 a.m. today at Paschal Funeral Home Chapel with Steven Tramel Gaines and George Slover officiating. Interment followed at Prairie Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Gaines, Steven Tramel Gaines, Mark Gaines, Doug Hardesty, Stan Jenkins and Dean Estoll.
Mrs. Tramel was born Sept. 22, 1918 in Bazette.
Survivors include husband Carey Tramel of Midland; son Carey Don Tramel of Austin; daughters Saundra Gaines of Odessa and Brenda Hardesty of Austin; sister Dolora Pike of Corsicana; brothers Jesse Jenkins of Benchley, William Barkley Jenkins of Van and James Stringer Jenkins of Dawson; grandchildren Michael Gaines, Steven Tramel Gaines, Mark Gaines, Doug Hardesty and Elizabeth Tramel; and great-grandchildren Kassaundra Gaines and Timothy Gaines.

- Milit-Beg*: He began military service on 5 May 1862 at Verona, Mississippi, Co. E/F, 41st Regiment of Mississippi Volunteers, Capt. S. E. Melson's Company. During his service in the Confederate Army, John Hudson wrote many letters to his wife, which have survived to the present day. His letters show that he was anxious to return to his family, and that the conditions under which he served were difficult.14,15,16,17
- Milit-End*: He was noted as "Missing. Left sick in McLimore's Cove" in his military records. A subsequent record listed him as "Missing, Captured in McLemore's Cove Sept. 12, 1863." The 41st Regiment of Mississippi Volunteers was engaged in the area of McLemore's Cove in northwest Georgia, on Sept. 12, 1863, in the maneuvers that preceded the battle of Chickamagua (which occurred on September 18-20, 1863) .16,18,19,20,21
- Death*: He died in September 1863 at Georgia at age 28, according to his widow's pension application.15
- Burial*: His burial place is unknown, since he never returned home from the Civil War. In the 1990s, family members had a stone placed beside his wife's grave in the Liberty Hill Cemetery, Frankston, Anderson County, Texas. His stone reads: John E. Hudson, Pvt Co F 41, Confederate States Army, July 17, 1835-Sep 1863.22,23
